Setting retardant additive: Tempo
Tempo (food-grade citric acid) is the most powerful retardant of Prompt natural cement on the market. Thanks to the retardant additive Tempo, setting can be delayed in applying of Prompt natural cement, which is a quick-setting cement (2 minutes in mortar at 20°C). Tempo is available in doses of 80 grams, and is dosed in relation to the volume of Prompt natural cement used. It is added to the mortar or concrete preparation.
It brings comfort of use by allowing more time for application and the cleaning of tools so as to carry out high quality work. It is also used in natural lime–Prompt natural cement mortars and concretes.
Dosage of Tempo: A capful, or 7 grams per litre of Prompt natural cement. Beyond that amount, Tempo is not very effective.
Mortar: the “Tempo dose” slows the beginning of setting of Prompt natural cement mortars by 10 to 30 minutes, according to the temperature:
|Temperature of the Prompt natural cement mortar||10°C||20°C||30°C|
|Setting temperature without Tempo||4 minutes||2 minutes||1 minute|
|Setting temperature with “Tempo dose”||30 minutes||15 minutes||10 minutes|
* Under 10°C, the “Tempo dose” can be halved, or even eliminated completely, according to the open time required.
Preparation with Tempo: sprinkle the Prompt natural cement with Tempo before mixing it with the sand.
